Why we chose Ajabu Adventures
When we decided to go on safari in Tanzania, we wanted a trip that truly suited us. Not just a standard tour, but something personal. From the very first phone call with Ajabu Adventures, it felt right. They really listened to our wishes and every little detail was included in the proposal. That personal approach made this trip unforgettable. The friendly Dutch-speaking contact with Miranda immediately gave us confidence. We also really enjoyed meeting Jan in Arusha. Everything just clicked, from start to finish.

Magical moments in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro
Every day of our safari brought something new. We woke up at first light, drove across the vast plains of the Serengeti and experienced moments we will never forget. One morning, we sat quietly for hours by a small river, surrounded by drinking zebras and wildebeests. Their sounds, their movements; it felt like we were part of their world for a moment. To them, we did not exist. And that is exactly what made it so magical.
We are true animal lovers, so every encounter was special. You might think, once you’ve seen one herd of elephants, you’ve seen them all. But nothing could be further from the truth. For us, every encounter felt unique. Whether it were elephants in the Serengeti or zebras and buffaloes in the Ngorongoro Crater, each moment had its own special touch. Our photo album says it all: we printed almost every picture so we can remember exactly where we saw each animal.
“Floating above the savannah in the early morning, the silence, the views… We wouldn’t have missed this for the world!”

Balloon safari in the Serengeti: expensive but indispensable
After we had already booked our trip, we decided to add a balloon safari over the Serengeti. It was quite an expense, but looking back, totally worth it. It’s amazing to see how many people work behind the scenes to ensure everything runs safely. Floating above the savannah in the early morning, surrounded by silence and breathtaking views… we wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

How climate change is affecting safaris
During our trip, we also realized how visible climate change has become, even in such a pristine landscape. Due to heavy rains earlier in the year, everything was greener than expected. For us, that was a blessing: there was plenty of food for the animals, which meant we saw huge herds of zebras and wildebeests that would normally have already moved on.
Unforgettable safari guide in Tanzania
At every lodge, we were warmly welcomed with delicious food and excellent service. But what truly made this trip unforgettable was our guide, Ombeni. What an amazing man! Knowledgeable, great company and incredibly dedicated. If we ever return to Tanzania, we wouldn’t hesitate to go on safari with him again.
If we had to sum up this trip in three words? Amazing. Fantastic. Indescribable. It was an adventure we would wish for everyone!
