Frequently asked questions

FAQ about the Tanzania National Parks, Africa

Didn’t find the answer you were looking for?

We’re happy to help! If your question isn’t covered in our FAQ or you’d like personal advice, feel free to reach out. Our team will gladly guide you in planning your perfect safari.

Are Tanzania’s national parks safe for families with children?

Yes, absolutely. Even the most talkative child will go silent when a lion lounges nearby or a herd of elephants passes right in front. Experiencing the parks through their eyes is pure magic. They learn, laugh, and discover. It’s like a classroom without walls. Our guides and lodge staff are always there to give guidance and make sure everything runs smoothly. Parks like Arusha and Tarangire are particularly family-friendly, with lodges and activities designed for young explorers.

Can we do different safari activities in one park?

Game drives are the heart of every safari, but many parks offer a chance to enhance your experience. Imagine an exciting morning safari walk in Tarangire, a peaceful canoe trip on Lake Manyara, or a breathtaking hot-air balloon ride over the Serengeti. Stepping out of the safari vehicle for some time gives you a fresh perspective on the bush. It allows you to discover the smaller wonders you might otherwise miss and makes the experience more sustainable.

Are our lodges located inside or outside the national parks?

Some parks, like Tarangire and Lake Manyara, offer accommodation options inside and outside the park borders. However, you need to stay overnight inside the vast Serengeti park. These lodges and tented camps provide the most immersive wildlife experience, from the moment you wake up to the evening sounds of the bush. Even outside the park boundaries, many lodges are located in wildlife-rich areas, so animals wander by. When crafting your itinerary, we will carefully select the lodges that match your style, preference, and budget.

How do I know the best time to visit each national park?

There is no such thing as the perfect” season. Tanzania is worth visiting all year round. The best time and park combination depends on your personal interests.

Do you want to test your luck at dramatic river crossings, spot baby animals, or enjoy a birding adventure? Well focus on the areas that match your priorities and select the places based on your preferred timing to make the most of every sighting. Keep in mind that July – August and the Christmas period are busy, while April – May and November let you enjoy the parks with fewer crowds. What should I pack and prepare for a safari in Tanzania’s national parks?

Think light, practical, and comfortable. Neutral clothes help you blend in and leave your high heels at home. The bush has its own dress code. Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, and binoculars. We will send you a helpful packing list before your trip to make sure you’re fully prepared for game drives, a bush walk, or sundowners with a view.
