Pemba
Pemba is the second largest island of the Tanzanian provence Zanzibar and it has an area of 906 square km. It is located about 50 km north of Zanzibar and it is a unique destination.
For centuries the island with its cloves plantations has provided the Sultan on Zanzibar with income and trade. Nowadays the island is still a big producer of these spices.
Pemba is unique because it possesses beautiful little white beaches; some of them are so small that they are only reachable per boat. The longest sand beach Panga ya Watoro lies northwest and it is not longer then 5 km granting exclusivity. There is no mass tourism. On the island you will only find a few lodges.
The Pemba Channel, which lies between the island and the mainland is steep and deep. There live different species of marine animals as well as beautiful reefs. People who love diving or any other water sports can really enjoy their stay.
