Mount Meru

Mount Meru (4,566 meters) is the second largest mountain of Tanzania and is one of Africa´s most beautiful volcanoes. On the lower slopes you will find different types of landscapes such as grassland, thick forest and rough rocks.

Mount Meru is the center of Arusha National Park. From the peak of the mountain you will have a spectacular view on the Momella Lakes, Mount Kilimanjaro and the beautiful distant plains. The advantage Mount Meru has over Mount Kilimanjaro is that is has been less climbed. This means that there are still large numbers of wild animals and a rich flora.

In the past Mount Meru was a larger vulcano than Kilimanjaro. Because of erosion and explosion she became smaller. Although Kilimanjaro offers you the opportunity to stand on the “Rooftop of Africa”, Mount Meru does not offer you less spectacle and adventure. Climbing Mount Meru is absolutely worth doing.
